Cleveland Plain Dealer Endorses Obama

Here is my first post not about Palestine, but I feel it is relevant to the topics of this blog nonetheless. Here is the link to the Plain Dealer's editorial concerning its endorsement.

I love the quote:

"Who is more likely to change the world of a child born in 2008? The answer, we think, is Barack Obama."

and of course,

"Obama's frequent talk of hope strikes some people as naive. It leads others to question his toughness. But Obama understands something his critics do not: Change requires vision and optimism, shared sacrifice and mutual trust. Hope can sustain those elements; a presidency defined by political tactics cannot."

The country needs Barack Obama.

Very interesting quote. Although, very ironic. The quote could also say this however:

"Who is more likely to vote in favor of not giving a child born in 2008 a chance at life? The answer, we think, is Barack Obama."

~Voted against banning partial birth abortion (up to third trimester!)

~He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive(seriously?)

~Protects a woman's right to choose (what about the child? what about the father too? The father has no rights, but is penalized by law for NOT supporting the baby financially?)

~Supports Roe v. Wade (worst legislature of the 20th century)

~Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (by means of termination)

~Voted NO on notifying parents of MINORS who get out-of-state abortions.

~Rated 0% by the NRLC, indicating a pro-choice stance.

Sorry man. Life is a precious thing of both science and faith. We heard Kayley's heartbeat when she was 8 weeks old after conception. She was no less of a life than she is now. There is no disputing the value of ALL life.

I will not argue that Obama is optimistic, personable, and carries great charisma. In fact, I supported him when he first surfaced. Then, I read more. Personality alone does not merit my vote. Especially as the 6th most liberal senator, Obama has too much baggage when it comes to key issues. To me, Obama is a vote for the "what ifs" and not the logical realist.
